True North Adventures MTB and ebike skills coaching courses in the Peak District which aim to improve your technical skill and bike handling.
Even as seasoned riders we all fall into bad habits and as with other sports we hit a plateau with improvement.
Skills coaching is not just for those riders new to mountain biking we design all our courses to build confidence, technique and bike control through progressive teaching methods, whatever your ability.
So whether you are new to ebiking and want to grasp the basics, an intermediate rider entering the ebike world and wants to switch over brush up on the fundamental skills to take your riding to the next level, Or you're an experienced advanced rider who wants to improve on advanced techniques aspects of their riding or for improving race results, then have a look at our open and private courses below.
Our courses have been designed to teach you how to ride, faster, more efficiently, more balanced and in more control.
Here at True North we’ve been messing about, riding and racing as long as we can remember and its taken us to some of the best places on earth and met some of ‘the’ best people.
We’ve had many up’s as well as down’s but in the end its just a big learning curve, but its experience we love to pass on.
Here at our base at Bike & Boot our training courses are based around natural riding terrain as that is what we have in abundance.
We don’t have from the door an abundance of artificially groomed trails or bike parks to play with, but if you do want to improve your skills on variety of trails and features then this is the place for you.
We use portable training apparatus like manual machines and coaching ramps to allow progression in a controlled environment before we set out which allows effective coaching repetition combined with slow motion technology also aids a clear understanding and insight into your riding so you can visually identify where you’ve got it nailed or where you might need some improvement.
Our range of ebike mountain bike courses suit riders of all abilities from those new to mountain biking through to experienced riders wanting to develop specific skills.
You might be a beginner looking to get into mountain biking , or for advanced riders looking to improve their technique, speed and technical performance for all round riding or for improving those stage times for improved race results.
From our years of experience through racing at high level at EWS races and gravity enduro racing in the UK along with our coaching experience we’d like to think we are well trained to pass on our understanding the specific principles and requirements for riding e- mountain bikes so our courses are developed with these techniques in mind.
We utilise many core skills and techniques specific to e-bikes to help you understand and learn the fundamentals, below are just some of these…
Our fundamentals course does exactly what it says on the tin! It covers all the fundamental techniques and skills required forming the basis of e-mountain biking and allowing you to move onto to further courses.

Once mastered these skills will set you up on a path for improvement which will ensure you have all the basic skills needed enabling you to progress and enjoy your future riding.
Avoid those bad habits and progress your riding further in less time.
Covering everything from bike set up, balance, cornering with speed and control to small front wheel lifts, drop-offs and to getting up technical climbs.

On this intermediate (plus) course, this ventures into Advanced territory where we will take the skills a little further than our fundamentals course. Here we will develop slightly more advanced skills and techniques to assist you in finding Flow, which in turn will bring speed, safer and more controlled riding which equals more fun.
We’ll look at advanced techniques to complement this additional speed like braking techniques, line choice and grip points on the trail allowing you to maintain the newly founded speed on the trail.
We’ll delve into powered and non powered wheel lifts, wheelie’s and manuals which used on the trail can bring additional flow, safety and speed.
From there we will look at steep uphill technical climbing along with more in depth trials moves.

Five of us had a fabulous guided weekend e-mountain biking. We had no previous experience, so it was great to have Barney with us to explain how the bikes worked, sort out the route and to talk us through how to approach all the different terrain. The bikes were fantastic, in tip-top condition and checked over each day. Barney was super; very calm and helpful, allowing each of us to go at our own pace. He had lots of good stories about the Peak District too. We would recommend True North wholeheartedly.
